What do all these “seals” mean?

All Juice Beauty products meet existing organic standards: the California Organic Products Act and the USDA National Organic Program Law.

JUICE BEAUTY PRODUCTS:

USDA: To use this seal, as Juice Beauty does, products must be 95 to 100% Organic (total organic content excluding water) as regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). These Juice Beauty products are formulated to USDA Organic food standards.

COPA: To use this seal, as Juice Beauty does, the product must meet the most rigorous national standards.

In the State of California, the California Organic Products Act of 2003 (COPA 2003) prohibits the retail sale of any cosmetic product labeled as "organic" unless that product meets the criteria of a minimum of 70% organic content EXCLUDING WATER OR FANCY NAMES FOR WATER and extracts. Any product that does not meet COPA requirements cannot legally be sold in the State of California and many products from leading beauty companies have been pulled from the shelves in California because of false organic claims; however, the Department of Health Services personnel are a bit busy and you’ll still find many non-authentic organic products on the shelves that claim “100% active organic ingredients” or “organic cosmetic seals” that really are just creative marketing.

Brands that are claiming “certified by EcoCert” do NOT meet the legal requirements for organic in the U.S. Eco-Cert standards are based on the EU regulatory definition of "organic" which requires that the total organic content total approximately 10%.

Created in 2002 by the collaboration of about ten cosmetic laboratories working on job specifications for cosmetics companies. Products that are bearing the Organic or Environment Friendly logo contain mainly natural ingredients.

Since Juice Beauty starts with over 30 organic juices, instead of a tap water base or petroleum base like most beauty products, we have one of the highest Vitamin C contents in the industry in our Antioxidant Serums. Our Vitamin C content in our serums is over 70%. Note that Organic Juices are listed first on our ingredient labels which will tell you that we have the highest Vitamin and mineral content in our ingredients.

Vitamin C is available in both water-soluble and fat-soluble forms. Water-soluble Vitamin C, L-Ascorbic Acid, benefits the outermost layers of the epidermis by improving skin tone and texture. Fat-soluble Vitamin C, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, benefits deep within the skin by promoting collagen and elastin production and strengthening capillaries. Juice Beauty formulas include both forms of Vitamin C for optimum results.

Juice Beauty's organic juice base includes juices that are rich in water-soluble Vitamin C. Our organic lemon and orange juices have the highest levels with over 80mg of L-Ascorbic Acid. Our organic grape and apple juices also add to our Vitamin C content, but with lower amounts. Please note that our water-soluble Vitamin C will not show up on our ingredient label as L-Ascorbic Acid, as it is a nutrient found in our organic juices fresh from our organic farms. In addition, our juice base is our highest percentage ingredient in our formulas and is listed first! We are packed with potent Vitamin C.

When L-Ascorbic Acid is listed on a skincare label, it is synthesized in a lab and not naturally organic. Vitamin C from a lab cannot feed your skin with the many potent age-defying nutrients, vitamins, polyphenols and fruit acids that are found in our juice base. Juice Beauty's juice base is also rich in potent fruit acids (tartaric, malic, glycolic, citric) that amplify the benefits of water-soluble C.

The most beneficial form of Vitamin C is the fat-soluble form, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate. Fat-soluble Vitamin C is the only form that can promote collagen and elastin production and strengthen capillaries. Both of these benefits are crucial to the age-defying process. Juice Beauty uses the highest percentage to achieve maximum penetration of fat-soluble Vitamin C. This information is proprietary and patent-pending.

Parabens, propylene or butylene glycols, petroleum, sulphates, PEGs, TEA, DEA, phthalates, GMO, silicones, pesticides, artificial dyes or fragrances. The only way you can avoid pesticides in beauty products is to buy certified organic products with the USDA seal or the Certified Organic Seal on the front of the box or product.

Petroleum, butylenes and propylene glycol are used because they are inexpensive fillers and they feel slick on your skin. Unfortunately, these ingredients are most often laced with dioxane and they actually halt the absorption of good ingredients as it acts as a barrier to the inner layers of the skin.

Additionally, Juice Beauty supports less petroleum drilling and exploration and supports finding alternatives for our beauty products (such as antioxidant packed organic juice!!) as well as for our automobiles.

Rest assured that all Juice Beauty's organic ingredients are certified by a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved agency. We source all of our organic ingredients, including our juices, aloe vera, honey, botanicals, plant oils, sugar and essential fatty acids, directly from USDA approved certified organic farms. Several researchers reported that parabens were found within human breast tumors so Juice Beauty was one of the very first brands to be completely paraben free. Most large cosmetic companies still preserve with parabens.

A blend of organic apple juice (malic acid), lemon juice (citric acid), white grape juice (tartaric acid), raw cane sugar (glycolic acid), milk peptides (lactic acid) and willow bark extract (salicylic acid).

Our organic hydroxy-acid juice solution helps: exfoliates dull, lifeless skin, minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, helps give skin a smoother appearance, improves skin tone and texture, help reduce blemishes, and helps lighten surface scars and age spots. These products are perfect to LIGHTEN, BRIGHTEN AND TIGHTEN.

The epidermis, the top most layer of skin, is only 0.1 to 1.5 millimeters thick. It is made up of five layers: the basal cell layer, the squamous cell layer, the stratum granulosum, the stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum. Working together, these layers continually rebuild the surface of the skin from within, maintaining the skin's strength and helping to thwart normal wear and tear and sun damage.

The stratum corneum is the outermost, visible layer of the epidermis. The stratum corneum is made up of 10 to 30 thin layers of dead cells. The thickness varies depending on health, age, and location on the body. The stratum corneum is protected by a thin layer (approximately 5 cells thick), the acid mantle, made up of water (perspiration) and oil (sebum).

As the outermost cells give way to wear and tear, they are replaced from within by new layers of strong, long-wearing cells. In the average adult, it takes nearly a month for the stratum corneum to be completely replaced. The replacement process generally slows with age.

Juice Beauty's (PATENTED) Green Apple Peel blends a powerful hydroxy-acid complex of certified organic apple, lemon, grape juices, raw cane sugar, and white willow bark to dissolve and free dull, lifeless skin for instantly and visibly improved skin tone and texture.

Alpha hydroxy acids are derived from fruit and peptide sugars. Alpha hydroxy acids cause the cells of the epidermis to become "unglued" allowing the dead skin cells to slough off, making room for new growth. An example of a beta hydroxy acid is salicylic acid. The main difference between alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids is their lipid (oil) solubility. Alpha hydroxy acids are water soluble only, while beta hydroxy acid is lipid (oil) soluble. This means that a beta hydroxy acid is able to penetrate into the pore which contains sebum and exfoliate the dead skin cells that are built up inside the pore.

The Green Apple Peel begins by removing the protective acid mantle cell layers, approximately 5 cells thick. The alpha and beta-hydroxy acids continue to unglue the dead skin cells of the underlying stratum corneum. Depending on age and thickness, as many as 10 cell layers can be removed.

We recommend that anyone using Juice Beauty's Green Apple Collection (and everyone in general!) use Juice Beauty's spf products that contain both UVA and UVB protection. Additionally, anyone buying any new beauty product of any kind should conduct a patch test on a sensitive (non-facial) part of their skin to make sure that this product will work for you and not cause over sensitivity

Well, think about that product that sells for hundreds of dollars and is simply petroleum + a bit of sea algae! Organic products are not the highest priced beauty products on the market.

Prices for organic beauty products and foods reflect many of the same costs as conventional items in terms of growing, harvesting, transportation and storage. Organically produced foods must meet stricter regulations governing all of these steps, so the process is often more labor- and management-intensive, and farming tends to be on a smaller scale. There is also mounting evidence that if all the indirect costs of conventional food production—cleanup of polluted water, replacement of eroded soils, costs of health care for farmers and their workers—were factored into the price of food, organic foods would cost the same or, more likely, be cheaper.

If stored out of direct sunlight and excessive heat, Juice Beauty products are safe and effective for up to 24 months after the manufacture date. Your safety is our first concern and as a result, Juice Beauty has worked diligently to find safe preservatives that provide effective protection. Juice Beauty uses freshly squeezed, organic juices as the base in our skin care products. Our juice solution in combination with food-grade preservatives has passed lab stability testing for proven product safety.

Juice Beauty's ColorCare products are preservative-free. They contain an effective stabilizing ingredient that is great for your skin, Vitamin E.

Juice Beauty's USDA Certified Organic products are formulated to organic food standards and preserved with organic grape alcohol.

Juice Beauty's Skincare products, made with organic ingredients, are preserved with a combination of safe and effective food grade preservatives that include ethylhexyl glycerin, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. These preservatives are safe, effective, naturally derived alcohols that are used at percentages less the 0.3%.
