For this week’s #AwarenessWednesday we’re excited to share an incredibly informative video from when we recently sat down to chat with Jeanne Rizzo, president of the Breast Cancer Fund.
The Breast Cancer Fund connects the dots between breast cancer and exposure to chemicals in our everyday environments by identifying — and working towards the elimination of — environmental and other preventable causes of the disease.
They translate the growing body of scientific evidence linking breast cancer and environmental exposures into public education and advocacy campaigns to increase awareness of ways to protect our health and reduce breast cancer risk.
Watch this fantastic conversation and let us know your thoughts below!
It’s Breast Cancer Month and if you’re like me, you’re seeing pink everywhere from every company imaginable. Though I love seeing so much support and awareness being rallied for such an important health issue, I’m surprised that companies simply place pink on their packaging and donate some money to Breast Cancer organizations once a year, while there may be ingredients in their products that have been linked to unhealthy effects. I’d love to know what you think – let me know in the comments at the bottom of this post.
All of the unnecessary chemicals in beauty products can cause problems for women’s health. We choose not to use these in our products. You can find an extensive list of chemicals you will NOT find in Juice Beauty products HERE.
I wanted to lay something out that’s pretty simple, and so important, to understand what happens with these chemicals and how a harmful chain happens. Here’s how it goes…
It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, when pink ribbons blanket everything from cosmetics to food cans, urging us to be aware of breast cancer. But when 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with the disease, how much more awareness do we need? Our charitable partner, the Breast Cancer Fund, is working to shift the conversation from awareness to prevention. We fully support them on their mission to stop this disease before it starts, and we need the support of millions of women like you. You can start by pledging to go beyond the pink to prevention.
In just a generation we’ve witnessed a 40-percent increase in breast cancer, and we know that environmental factors like toxic chemical exposures have played a major role. The Breast Cancer Fund is working to eliminate our exposure to toxic chemicals linked to the disease so that fewer of us, our daughters and increasingly our sons will ever have to hear the words, “You have breast cancer.”
With the topic of breast cancer front and center this month, what better time to share helpful, preventative tips to minimize exposure to chemicals and toxic ingredients that have been linked to cancer than #AwarenessWednesday?
These tips each week will help shift the conversation from simply increasing awareness and actually creating empowering awareness around ways to take action around prevention of this devastating disease.
First up, 2 simple tips to stay aware of what’s in your products and to take action by choosing safe, non-toxic options to minimize or eliminate exposure to harmful chemicals.

We feel incredibly honored to have earned recognition from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in being awarded the Courage in Commerce award for putting principles before profit and pulling out of the Chinese market. We do not believe in (or support) testing on animals and, unfortunately current governmental regulation requires testing cosmetics that are sold in the country and does not align with our beliefs. We hope this is something that will change and pledge not to re-enter the Chinese market until the requirements for tests on animals are lifted to stay true to our cruelty-free values.
