As we mentioned last week (time flies!), we absolutely love sharing our favorite Juice Beauty products with you but we realized it’s even more fun to share some of our favorite people with you too!

Juice Beauties, meet Rachel! Read on to get to know her and a find out a few of her favorite picks…

Alright Rachel, how would you describe yourself in a nutshell? A Crunchy Colorado Mom! (Side note: Crunchy?! We don’t believe that!)

What was the first Juice Beauty product you used? While pregnant with my daughter, I made the switch to Juice Beauty. The Organic Facial Wash was the first product I tried. It was perfect for me then, and remains so today. I love it.

What is your FAVORITE Juice Beauty product? Why do you love it? It is tough to select just one, but Juice Beauty’s Hydrating Mist takes the cake. I refer to it as my “spa in a bottle.” It is that rejuvenating!

You’re running late in the morning and only have a few minutes before you have to run out the door, what is the ONE skincare/beauty step you can NOT skip? Moisturizer for the face. Juice Beauty’s Oil-Free Moisturizer is my current pick, but I am soon going to begin using the SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer to add the benefits of sun protection! This is especially needed and important for this mile-high dweller.

Best beauty advice? Don’t forget to take care of your décolleté, your hands, and your teeth! All of these are among the areas that expose aging, even if your skin is otherwise amazing. Additionally, it is wise to invest in a good hairbrush.

We base so much of our line on fruit…what’s your favorite fruit & how do you eat it? I literally love them all. One of my favorite ways to eat them is in a homemade organic smoothie with whole milk yogurt. Yum!

When or where do you feel most beautiful? After a warm bath, a hike, when I see myself in my daughter, or by the way my husband looks at me sometimes.

What do you do to stay healthy? I am committed to living an organically sustained life. My family and I eat an organic and wholesome diet. We pay attention to the ingredients in the products we use, including personal hygiene and beauty, household cleaning, and anything else we can think of. We limit exposure to pesticides and other debris entering the home by leaving our shoes by the door. We are continually striving to do even more towards realizing and maintaining this health goal. In terms of exercise, I enjoy yoga, blazing beautiful Colorado trails with my jogging stroller, or spending some time cycling on my road bike. Most often, I am chasing after my little one, which is a really great workout!

Favorite organic recipe? Oh, there are so many. One that has frequented the rotation lately is this Martha Stewart Roasted Vegetable Salad with Mozzarella. Yum!

Where is your dream vacation? Many dream spots are on my wish list, but if I were to pick one today, I would visit my sister in Honolulu. Not only would it be a sweet getaway, but my little girl would meet her aunt for the first time.

Words of advice to live by? Life is short & so am I… and when all else fails… eat CHOCOLATE!

What was the first Juice Beauty product you used? The first Juice Beauty product I tried was a sample of the Antioxidant Serum. I absolutely loved it right from the start. I had used other serums before but they just sat on my face for hours but this serum just soaks right up. I swear my face INSTANTLY felt soft & by the 3rd day of using it.  I loved it so much I immediately purchased a bottle.

What is your FAVORITE Juice Beauty product? Do I have to pick just ONE?! They are ALL my favorites but if I must choose one, I have to say it is the Antioxidant Serum.

Why do you love it? Why?! Because it is magic in a little bottle. When I first tried the sample, I did a side-by-side test alongside the other skincare serum I was using at the time. On one side I applied the Antioxidant Serum & on the other side I used “Brand B”  serum then topped both off with the same moisturizer. The Juice Beauty side was always softer than the other. I even asked my son (age 3) which side felt better and he always picked the Juice Beauty side! I even found myself constantly feeling that side of my face because I was so amazed at how soft and smooth my skin felt.

No matter what, I will ALWAYS wash & moisturize my face. I’d rather skip putting on makeup and have a freshly washed & smooth face. Besides, after I use the Antioxidant Serum and Nutrient Moisturizer, my face has a nice glow to it and I feel confident enough to skip the makeup!

Best beauty advice? Take good care of your skin! Younger women should start now. Don’t wait till you’re older like me and notice lines! Preventative is the way to go. Use sunscreen, moisturize, exfoliate and all that wonderful stuff. I’ll admit that I just recently (within the last year) became fanatic about my skincare but one day while sitting at a stoplight, I suddenly noticed some fine lines around my eyes and mouth and it REALLY freaked me out! I guess I took for granted that I always looked young but wow, when I saw those lines, it was a wake up call! From that day forth, I promised myself I would take better care of the skin I was in! I take my skincare regime very seriously & think everyone should take their skincare seriously too. I used to say I didn’t have time but that is nonsense! Think of it as your daily pampering…  wash that beautiful face of yours and ALWAYS keep your face hydrated/moisturized. Just several minutes, twice a day to pamper your skin using good, quality products like Juice Beauty and you will be AMAZED at how good you feel when you see the difference in your skin. When you see and feel the difference, others will notice too. It’s easy to put your best face forward when your face feels and looks amazing… all because you spend a little extra time to take care of it.

When or where do you feel most beautiful? I feel MOST beautiful when my sweet little boy tells me “Mommy, you’re beautiful.” It’s not something he just tells me all the time but I know he means it. <3

What do you do to stay healthy? The main thing I do to stay healthy is eat healthy! I buy organic as much as possible and try to always cook fresh and stay away from processed foods. All the foods in my house are either organic or natural & WITHOUT any nasty additives & preservatives (this includes what goes onto my skin!). Oh, and having an almost 4 year old keeps me very busy and active as well. ;P

We’re clearly fruit fanatics around here. What’s your favorite fruit & how do you eat it? My favorite fruit is mango! Peel, cut and eat! Mangoes in Hawaii (I’m from Hawaii) are the best!

Favorite organic recipe? Right now my favorite organic recipe is bowtie pasta w/ ground turkey, organic broccoli & grape tomatoes in organic pesto sauce. So simple yet so good!

Beauty Resolution #5: Don’t forget your body! We tend to be good about focusing on skincare for our face but the skin on the rest of our body need taken care of too! Everyday environmental exposure can take a toll on skin which, in time, begins to show as aging, uneven tone and dryness. Even a nice warm shower can strip skin of oils so it’s important to choose healthy, nourishing body products and use them regularly.

Beauty Resolution #4: Wear SPF everyday! We know some of you are former sun worshippers (Karen even admits she was the original ‘beach bunny’ back in the day) but hopefully you’ve changed your sunning ways now that we’re aware of the very scary effects sun exposure can have. And though most of us are good about applying SPF when we’re vacationing somewhere sunny, UV protection is not just for the days you’re out at the beach – it needs to be a daily habit.

If you need further convincing…

1. Sun damage is the leading cause of skin aging (and who wants that?!). Damage from UVA rays causes skin to lose it’s elasticity and form lines and wrinkles. Additionally, sun exposure causes melanin to form as a defense mechanism to protect the skin from UV rays – this is what builds a tan. Pockets of melanin are what you later see as hyperpigmentation and age spots.

2. Melanoma, one of the most deadly forms of cancer,  is the fastest growing cancer both in the United States and worldwide. Approximately 65% of melanomas are attributed to ultraviolet (UV) exposure so skin needs to be protected! Americans now have roughly a 1 in 50 chance of being diagnosed with melanoma at some point in their lives versus the 1 in 1500 chance there was 60 years ago.

Beauty Resolution #3: Take a daily vitamin. You’ve heard it a million times, the old adage, you are what you eat. And it’s true! What you put in your body (or don’t put in your body) can affect your skin just as much what you put on it and having a lack or imbalance of vitamins can leave skin dry, dull or blotchy.

We’re going to assume you’re already doing your best to eat as many nutritious (and delicious) organic fruits and veggies as you can, so taking a daily multivitamin supports your already healthy habits to make sure you’re getting all the vitamins and antioxidants that help skin glow!
